3 Idiots Breaks the Bollywood Bank

It seems that Santa brought a doozy of a Christmas gift to the wheelers and dealers at Reliance Big Pictures. Their latest film, 3 Idiots, released on Christmas Day, made Bollywood cinematic history as it raked in Rupees 100 Crores (just over $21 million USD), worldwide and in just four days.
Released in 2,126 screens internationally-the widest release for any Indian film to date-this film has now set new benchmarks for Bollywood films.
Inspired by Chetan Bhagat's novel, "Five Point Someone", the film tells the tale of three engineering students during their college days. Shot on location in various cities including Chandigarh, Delhi, New York and even Sydney Australia (where 3 Idiots became the highest grossing Indian film on its opening weekend), it is clear that this film has struck a chord with the global film goer.
3 Idiots Details:
Starring: Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani, Omi Vaidya, Javed Jaffrey & Mona Singh
Screenplay: Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi and Vidhu Vinod Chopra
Music: Shantanu Moitra
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire
Cinematography: C.R. Muraleedharan
Theatres are already witnessing repeat film-goers who are going back for their 2nd and third time. A typical Bollywood sign of the film's success.
