New York Fashion Week 2010 lit up venues across the city. This year Kiss and Fly Club were home to Go Global, a NY Fashion Week Exclusive. OPEN New York (The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs) and ALI (Active Liberty Institute) presented Go Global on February 22. The South Asian-inspired event featured the brightest South Asian fashion designers, runway shows, a fusion band performance and a discussion panel. The evening started with a Runway Panel discussing the fashion industry. The panel included Project Runway’s creative director
Althea Harper and creative directors
Bibhu Mohapatra and
Bee Inthavong, bringing their insights and expertise from fashion houses such as
Tory Burch, J.Mendel, Halston, Doo Ri and
Diane von Furstenberg. The vibrant after party featured a dazzling Vogue-styled runway show with designs from
HSY, Nadia Zafar, Alia Khan and
Mera Anwar. Ford Modelling Agency models strutted the catwalk to live fusion sounds of the Brooklyn Qawwali Party, a jazz and qawwali fusion band. Industry experts included renowned fashion photographer
James Weber and
Farah K. Ahmed, Assistant General Counsel, Personal Care Products Council.
