Nitin Mirani is sexy, successful and downright hilarious. Born in India and raised in Dubai, Nitin earned himself the nickname, “glocal comedian” for possessing an un-cliched style of comedy that’s refreshing, exuberant and utterly unpredictable. He’s able to give a local feel to global comedy and that has helped him captivate crowds around the world from the Middle East, India, Hong Kong and North America. Nitin credits his ability to see the world in a comical light to his upbringing having gone through the Gulf War, a global recession, eight years of the Bush administration and yes, even the 1980’s disco-dancing era, he adds.

The founder of the brand Komic Sutra, Nitin lives by the company’s motto: Laugh and let laugh. While he tries to use comedy to shed some new perspective on life – and often succeeds with audiences walking away chanting his one-liners – it’s all about having a good time for this Desi comedian. Best way to unwind: Comedy actually is the best way to unwind but nothing beats good conversation followed by good food.

Favourite Hollywood movie: Forrest Gump.

Favourite book: My accounts book. (It helped me get through college.)

Guilty pleasure: Ties. (I have a collection of 300 and can’t stop buying them.)

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why? I’m a Sindhi so I already have a superpower called “the power of negotiating” which along with humour is what gets me in and out of any situation.

What is on your iPod? I actually don’t own one. However, if I did, the “Gayatri Mantra” and the Superman theme would definitely be on it.

Most memorable professional moment: My performance for the US army, my first sold out Komic Sutra show and seeing my face on a billboard.
