5th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
Against the backdrop of New York's Liberty State Park the 5th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event took place Saturday, June 2nd 2012. One of the summer's most glamorous affairs, stars such as Minka Kelly, Zoe Saldana, Coco Rocha and Jason Wu were seen in attendance dressed to impress.
Co-hosted by Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winning actor Clive Owen,
world-renowned polo player Nacho Figueras and wife Delfina Blaquier, as well as Veuve Clicquot U.S. President Vanessa Kay, this year's Polo Classic supported Work to Ride, a non-profit equestrian program aiding disadvantaged urban youth.
Highlights of the event included Rachel Zoe throwing out the ceremonial ball to start the game, a performance by New Orleans-style jazz vocalist Ingrid Lucia, the national anthem sung by Broadway star and Sex in the City alum Sean Palmer, moving remarks from Kareem Rosser, one of the Work To Ride's best polo players the traditional divot stomp where Leslie Bibb and Padma Lakshmi got on the field and strutted their stuff.
The VIP tent hosted an 'urban garden' theme inspired by the Liberty State Park. The setting included impressive walls that showcased lush plants and flowers, a dramatic grass table, a bird mansion filled with Clicquot yellow canaries, a driftwood chandelier, a gorgeous plant dome and a stag head plant wall treatment.
This year’s ticketed affair saw Nacho Figueras lead his team Black Watch to victory in a 9-7 over team Nespresso. Congrats Black Watch, polo never looked so good!!
